National Teacher Appreciation Day

For the last fifteen years National Teacher Day in the US is celebrated the first full week on May and the first Tuesday. Teacher Appreciation Week this year will be from May 7 to the 11 of 2007. The first National Teacher’s Day is believed to have started in 1953. Schools across America will be thanking their teachers for the hard work and dedication they do everyday for our kids. Teachers have been a unsung heroes of our children each and everyday. In India teachers are celebrated September 5th on the birthday of a former Indian president. And in Russia the first Sunday of October is set aside as Teacher’s Day.

The goal for all teachers across the world is impart a love for learning new things. So what a better way to say thank you to a teacher than help them learn something new. Parents can give gift certificates to local art classes and cooking classes. Other great thank you ideas are a small gift each day thru the week that a child can bring in are like flowers, apples and candy are sure to be appreciated by each teacher.

Many celebrities have set aside time to thank their teachers for teaching and guiding them to success. Teachers help each child learn to believe in themselves and to reach for the stars.

From schools to PTA groups and local stores everyone wants to take the week to remind a teacher that all they do is appreciated every year. A great way for schools and groups to thank their teachers is a lawn greeting in front of the school. A big display of stars is a fun way to say they have done a great jon. Our children will always be our future and because of a teacher that future looks bright.

Thank you to all teachers and have a happy National Teacher’s Week and Day!
